Marin History Museum Cap Ex Fund
---

A museum should be more than a place you visit — it should be part of everyday life. That’s why the Marin History Museum is reimagining what a museum can be. Starting in January 2026, our exhibits and programs will travel to neighborhoods, libraries, schools, and public spaces across Marin — sharing history where people live, learn, and gather.

For 90 years, we’ve preserved Marin’s stories through the county’s largest collection — 20,000+ artifacts and 200,000+ photographs that capture who we are and how we came to be. With your support, these treasures are preserved and shared for generations to come.

The Marin History Museum’s Capital Expenditures (CapEx) Fund supports essential, long-term investments in our collections care and exhibit spaces. Gifts to this fund help preserve and protect Marin’s heritage by maintaining the structures, storage, and displays that keep our history accessible for generations to come.

It’s easy to make additional gifts to us by using a wide variety of assets. MCF accepts payments by card, wire transfers, contributions by check, stock, and crypto, just to name a few. Marin History Museum is also partnering with MCF to receive complex gifts. If you have a complex gift - such as a vehicle or property - please contact Sue Hagan, Marin History Museum Board Treasurer, info@marinhistory.org, for more info.

Should you choose to support this organization or project, your contribution will be made to Marin Community Foundation, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation that is a tax-exempt public charity under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).

Contributions made via the Donation Center are distributed by MCF to the donor’s intended recipient. In the case of MCF pooled funds, where donations are collected into a single fund and then granted to multiple organizations, MCF receives your donation and distributes the total collected funds to the grantees for that fund. Your contribution may take up to 45 days to be received by MCF and sent to the intended recipient organization. No fees are assessed on any specific donation to or from a fund. The full amount of your contribution to MCF constitutes a charitable contribution that may be tax deductible. Donors should consult their personal tax advisors for any questions regarding tax deductibility based on their personal tax situation.

In some instances, for reasons outside of MCF’s control, a contribution may not reach the intended recipient. This may be due to the intended recipient’s loss of federal or state tax-exempt status or other reasons. In such a case, MCF will select another recipient organization based on its sole discretion.

If you choose to support an organization by visiting their website to donate directly to the organization, Marin Community Foundation does not accept or hold any donation or receive fees from any donation made directly to another organization.
