Through this fund, employees or the children or grandchildren of employees of five Marin County retirement facilities are eligible to apply for scholarships to help achieve their post-secondary educational goals. The five facilities are Aldersly, Drake Terrace, Smith Ranch, The Tamalpais, and Villa Marin.
These scholarships are funded by tax-deductible contributions to the Marin Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The Marin Retirement Communities Scholarship Committee works with the scholarship arm of the Foundation, 10,000 Degrees, in establishing the criteria and granting the awards.
Contributions in any amount are welcome, including memorial or honorary contributions. Gift envelopes are available at each of the five communities, or donors may contact the Marin Community Foundation directly to use a credit card.
Student application forms are available online after October 1st each year at 10,000 Degrees (www.10000degrees.org). The application deadline is March 2nd. Annual awards are announced in late June.
Should you choose to support this organization or project, your contribution will be made to Marin Community Foundation, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation that is a tax-exempt public charity under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
Contributions made via the Donation Center are distributed by MCF to the donor’s intended recipient. In the case of MCF pooled funds, where donations are collected into a single fund and then granted to multiple organizations, MCF receives your donation and distributes the total collected funds to the grantees for that fund. Your contribution may take up to 45 days to be received by MCF and sent to the intended recipient organization. No fees are assessed on any specific donation to or from a fund. The full amount of your contribution to MCF constitutes a charitable contribution that may be tax deductible. Donors should consult their personal tax advisors for any questions regarding tax deductibility based on their personal tax situation.
In some instances, for reasons outside of MCF’s control, a contribution may not reach the intended recipient. This may be due to the intended recipient’s loss of federal or state tax-exempt status or other reasons. In such a case, MCF will select another recipient organization based on its sole discretion.
If you choose to support an organization by visiting their website to donate directly to the organization, Marin Community Foundation does not accept or hold any donation, or receive fees from any donation made directly to another organization.
